Since we came back from South-Africa I've mainly been working at Climb Newcastle. During the summer holidays I will probably work full-time at the wall. The reason: my lecturing at the University won't start till October.
One of my favourite days at work is the Friday, i.e. route setting day. Normally Andy, Springer and I start setting a couple of hours before the wall opens, which means a whole new circuit is up before the first customers come in.
Today, however, I was setting on my own. The reason: Springer is embracing the sun in Spain for the last few days and Andy was in Edinburgh today. But this was not the only thing that differed from normal. Instead of setting one new circuit, a whole area had to be reset (The reason: see climbnewcastle.com ;)). Fortunately Andy and I started setting yesterday, which meant I only had to finish the job of this morning.
It is fair to say that since I've moved over to England I've become stronger. The reason: who knows. I think it is a combination of factors: e.g. my awesome vegan Scarpa shoes, less stress from work, shorter but intenser training sessions, more rest(days), coaching others, the frequent route setting (and testing) etc.
Anyway, have a great weekend.
